My, How You've Grown

It's about goddamned time I finally learned how to draw Nala!  

Originally conceived as basic practice for being able to do her in my art, this is really just a simple, sweet image of Nala taking a walk in the Pride Lands with Kenta, her first grandson. (You can probably guess who the parents are.) She's giving him a ride on her back/head, telling him all sorts of stories about her past life and what things were like when she was his age. Nala's also seeming very proud of how Kenta has grown into the strong little cub he is, and hopes she can live to see him become the next king of Pride Rock. (Spoiler alert: She will.)

Ever since I started accepting point commissions (See my most recent journal entry), I realized that I need to be ready in case someone asks me to draw a character I haven't done yet. I chose Nala, since she's just one of many TLK characters that I've admittedly been giving the cold shoulder in terms of my fan art. I learned to illustrate her sooner than I expected, and the result was what you see here. I personally think it's very cute.

And yes, I used Nala's TLKII design with the blue eyes. So sue me.
