The First Snowfall

Kind of ironic that I made this right at the start of Spring, huh?  

The idea came to me for this after my friend and I decided to have it snow in Revolutions for Revenge, a TLK fanfic of ours. The concept of weather like that coming to the Pride Lands intrigued me for some reason, probably because we've never seen it before in the movies. We've seen heavy rain and thunderstorms (more than once, too), but I feel that it'd be an interesting change in status quo for there to be snow instead. And so that made me end up with the drawing you see here.

Naturally, no one in the Pride Lands is going to be familiar with this kind of weather, and so I chose to sort of tap into that. Here, Kovu's still trying to figure out what the stuff even is, while Kiara's more concerned about how cold it all feels. Meanwhile, Kenta and Sala (their cubs) naturally don't give a crap, and just decide to play around in it while they can, excited about this new kind of weather to them. Kids will be kids, after all.  

I was debating on whether or not to include Simba and Nala somewhere in this, most likely inside of the den of Pride Rock. But I ultimately decided not to, since I think I still need a lot of practice drawing them before I can get either of them to look right. I feel like I could've (and should've) done a better job on Pride Rock itself, specifically the rock textures on it. But once again, I'll admit that I've got a long way to go on that too. The snow here was tinted blue by accident as I was making the final touches to this drawing, so I hope that doesn't come off as too distracting here.
