Description
Happy early Halloween, everybody! 
I didn’t want to post this until Halloween, but fuck it, I can’t hold it off for that long. (Finished it WAY ahead of schedule.) Anyway, in the spirit of the season, I wanted to try something new by putting out a picture that’s genuinely unsettling for once. I’ve done some sad and/or dark drawings before, but I’ve never tried one that’s meant to be scary. So I created this, finally getting around to drawing Scar at the same time. A fucked up and demented version of him, of course, but still. 
Normally, this is the part where I’d explain what’s going on in this or what it’s meant to be depicting. But this time, I’m changing that up. 
I want to leave this drawing completely up to interpretation, just to add to the creepiness with the uncertainty of it. It’s really up to you guys as to what’s happening. Even the title is supposed to be ambiguous. It could be a real thing happening to Kion, or it could also be a dream. It might be a hallucination, a premonition, a daydream, or anything of the sort. Perhaps it’s real and Scar wants to haunt Kion by horrifying him with his appearance. Maybe Kion is so scared of becoming like Scar, that he’s imagining him trying to corrupt him. Perhaps Scar is trying to deprave Kion’s own soul by merging with him, whether it be literal or figurative. Perhaps Scar is giving Kion an initiation of some sort to turn him into a demon too. Or if you really want to go balls-to-the-wall, you could say Kion died or is having a near death experience, and Scar is trying to drag him down to hell with him. 
There’s no right or wrong answer in this case.
While I won’t give away what’s going on in this scene, what I can say is that I tried my hardest to make Scar’s ghost look as unsettling as possible. 
I’ve long been familiar with the concept of the uncanny valley, and it’s always fascinated me to no end for some reason. So I wanted to apply it to Scar here, since the uncanny is often the type of horror that really sticks with people long-term. It didn’t come out quite the way I intended it to, but on the whole, I’d say it does the trick. After all, how would you react if you suddenly saw that thing moving around in the same universe as The Lion King?

Kion couldn't believe what he's seeing. Was this a nightmare? It had to be. A black mist had appeared before the leader of the Lion Guard, that now bore a smile that consisted of both glee and horror. Although the Fiercest in the Pridelands, Kion whimpered in fear, terrified of the figure before him. It opened its eyes, which were white, the only bright color of its form. A scar over his right eye then appeared. The eerie being then transformed to be a lion, never losing that wretched smile. As the black mist surrounded him, Kion summoned his courage and spoke.
"Who, or what are you?" The lion questioned.
"I am family." The misty lion responded.
"No. You can't be." Kion observed the lion for five more seconds then came to a sudden conclusion. "You're Scar," the cub said gritting his teeth.
"I am indeed, great nephew." Scar replied.
"Why are you here?" Kion asked boldly.
"I am here for quite a few reasons. You see, I am here to propose a peace treaty between you and I."
"Why in the Pridelands would you want to make peace with me," Kion interrogated
"You possess great power Kion. You are the Fiercest in all of the Pridelands, Leader of the Lion Guard, son to the King, Prince of Pride Rock, and wield the Roar of the Elders. I was in your pawprints for several years, but lost the Roar for my envious plans. But, you and I can join together, and we can take over the Pridelands and the Outlands. If you truly want, we can even eliminate the hyenas, crocs, and jackals, so there will be peace on your behalf."
"Scar, you terminated your Guard and lost the Roar because you believed that power is more important than friendships. You made my family suffer by murdering my grandfather and your own brother, and will serve forever as a horrible influence throughout the Pridelands. I will never join you, and this Black Baptism I refuse to partake in."
Scar's figure was stiffened by Kion's response. "You know that spirits can possess other animals, right?" Scar said.
Kion stood there, starting to shake, then said the most daring words he'd ever say in his life, which he believed would be his .
"I won't allow you to hurt anyone with me or my Roar. If I have no way to escape, you'll have to kill me."
Scar smiled wickedly, which was the last sight Kion saw from there. "Very well," he said scornly, then started to cackle.
Scar and his mist all enclosed onto Kion, but his eyes then shot open to see himself in Pride Rock, close to his mother, Nala. He looked outside to see the moon and the stars encrypted onto a canvass of bluish-black sky.
Kion decided to collect his thoughts, and tip-clawed his way out of Pride Rock with no one noticing. He walked out to the right side of the entrance to the Royal Chambers, so no one would see him. He then grabbed his head with his paw, and started to breathe heavily. He has had two other nightmares about Scar; one where his dad was possessed by Scar, and where Scar haunted him with younger versions of him leading the Guard. The one he just had was by far the worst nightmare he's ever had of the devilish lion.
"It was all a bad dream." Kion said to himself, trying to calm all of his eratic nerves.
Kion then walks back inside and looks at his family; Nala, Simba, and Kiara.
"You won't hurt them while I'm here, Scar." He says. He then walks over to them, lays down, smiles, and closes his eyes .
